Meet the Team
Strathmore Real Estate Group and its affiliates have a successful track record of real estate management, sales, leasing, acquisitions, and development in the Midwestern and Southeastern United States. The Company has successfully completed a number of significant student housing projects, commercial retail projects, mixed-use projects, residential subdivisions, residential apartment projects, and upscale single-family homes. In addition, the Company has repositioned numerous obsolete uses including sites with extensive environmental contamination and national historic landmarks. The Company has been actively engaged in real estate investment, development, management, and construction since 1986. The Company began purchasing distressed debt in 2017.
Strathmore Real Estate Group’s qualified real estate professionals include attorneys, certified public accountants, professional engineers, surveyors, and other highly skilled real estate professionals. The pursuit of projects that benefit our Company, employees, partners, and the communities we serve remain our core discipline. The following is a summary of key personnel.
Samuel S. Chappelle, J.D.
Principal, President & General Counsel
Mr. Chappelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in real estate from New York University, and a Juris Doctorate from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, New York, concentrating in business and real estate law. Prior to assuming the position of President and General Counsel in 2020, Mr. Chappelle was engaged in various rolls within Strathmore Real Estate Group as a licensed real estate salesperson and broker. Mr. Chappelle has over 10 years’ experience in the real estate industry and holds real estate licenses in Michigan and Florida. Mr. Chappelle is admitted to the New York, Michigan, and Florida State Bars.
Jacob C. Chappelle, J.D.
Principal, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Chappelle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Loyola University’s Quinlan School of Business, Chicago, and a Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University Law School, Lansing, Michigan concentrating in business and real estate law. Prior to assuming the position of CFO in 2021, Mr. Chappelle was engaged in various rolls within Strathmore Real Estate Group as a licensed real estate professional. He also has over 9 years’ experience in the real estate industry and holds a real estate license in Michigan. Mr. Chappelle is admitted to the Michigan Bar.
Terrance A. Benton
Principal, Vice President of Real Estate
Mr. Benton is primarily responsible for new project origination, sales, and the resolution of various issues relating to projects in process. Mr. Benton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Alma College and holds a real estate license in Michigan. He has over 18 years of leadership experience at Midwest grocery and supercenter retailer Meijer, Inc., including operations, supply chain and logistics management, merchandising management, and served as Director of Real Estate. During his tenure at Meijer, Mr. Benton focused on new store site selection, out-lot sales, and development of in-store tenant leasing. He is also a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership in San Diego, California, and the Dow Leadership Center at Hillsdale College.
Ronald A. Calhoun P.E., P.S.
Director of Construction and Development
Mr. Calhoun holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Land Surveying from the Ohio State University, and is a certified Professional Engineer and Professional Surveyor. Mr. Calhoun has over 31 years of experience in the construction, development, and engineering fields. Over the course of his career, Mr. Calhoun has been responsible for numerous complex construction projects with values up to $90 million for a single project.
Allen D. Johnson C.P.A. (License Escrowed)
Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University. He has over 41 years’ experience as a corporate controller. Mr. Johnson was a licensed certified public accountant in 1975 and actively practiced public accounting for five years with Seidman & Seidman, now known as BDO Seidman, in the Grand Rapids, MI office. Mr. Johnson is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Director of Stabilized Operations
Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Florida Atlantic University with over 17 years of broad management responsibilities currently oversees residential and commercial leasing and tenant relations. As a licensed Michigan real estate agent Mr. Smith is responsible for Strathmore’s residential and commercial leasing relationships, related marketing activities, and participates in new project due diligence, acquisitions, and implementation.
Daniel S. Siettas
Director Information Systems and Facilities
Mr. Siettas has over 24 years’ experience with information technology systems with an associate degree from Lansing Community College in Communications and Networking along with a Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification, Comp TIA Linux+ Administrator, Network+ and Security+ Certifications. Mr. Siettas is also involved in managing access security, wireless connectivity, remote management, HVAC control systems, and is well versed in multiple aspects of facility systems. Mr. Siettas has maintained and serviced a 3500+ user network consisting of Cisco routers, firewalls, and switches for a student housing project and has extensive experience maintaining numerous server and networking systems of various vendors with a specialty in design, deployment and managing development of these systems within each project.
Eugene J. Dylong
General Manager, Site Services
Mr. Dylong has over 36 years’ experience managing site and facilities services including site, lawn care, snow removal, and landscape operations. Mr. Dylong is responsible for Strathmore Real Estate Group’s site, lawn care, and snow removal division and provides a full range of site services, lawn care, and snow removal services to both affiliated entities and unrelated third-party commercial and residential clients.
Scherie L. Farano
Manager, Accounting and Administration
Mrs. Farano has over 21 years of broad administrative and management responsibilities with Strathmore Real Estate Group and oversees all aspects of administration including accounting, payroll, and logistics.
